Bustle-Butted

Alright.

I'm kind of a junkie for old-fashioned clothes. I'm also a junkie for kick-ass boots. So the bustle on this jacket by PixelDolls was inevitably going to catch my eye. As soon as I put it on, I knew that I wanted to sex it up a bit, and added the short-shorts, the killer boots, and once again, some of Rozoregalia's fantastic accessories.

The boots are part of Le Petit Prince's "La Fourmie Ailee" outfit. I had difficulty with this outfit, which is almost entirely prim-based, as my avvie isn't an anorexic spider-twig... but the boots are awesome.



The teeny tiny booty shorts are made by Solange, and are part of their "Highland Hipbanger" outfit (the whole outfit is ridiculously hot, I'll show it off one of these days).



As you can see, I'm wearing the Rozoregalia nails again... but I've also added a belly accessory. This is originally meant to be worn as an earring, but when I looked at this outfit, there was just a bit too much bare-ness, between cleavage and shorts... so I added this earring as a make-do belly ring. I rather like the effect!

I can't post about this shoot without mentioning the absolutely gorgeous surroundings. The photos were taken inside of my awesome Ananke "Nereide" Submarine. Carrah Rossini makes the most gorgeous stuff. I have one of her space ships as well. WHile the submarine has a decidedly vintage feel, the space ship has a more Asian feel. The textures are amazing, the seats have multiple poses, the vessels are actually drive-able, and there are cuddle and 'Love' poses in the beds in both vessels.

All in all, this was a fun set. I felt kind of like a pirate in it.

Crazy Tuesday

Hihi, fellow fashion aficionados.

Tuesdays are a bit of a nutty day for me- beginning at 5:45 am and getting home around 9:45 pm.

Blogging on Tuesdays? Not so much, for the next five or six weeks, until the class I'm taking is finished.

After that, of course, hells yes.

That Sexiness From Days Gone By

When Yumi Pausch, a designer for Rozoregalia, gave me the items from the newest line of Rozor stuffs, I about exploded with glee. I adore Rozoregalia- their attention to detail, their exactness, creativity, and their ability to capture an era with their creations, has always excited me.

When I put on the Bouhachi fur necklace, the long gloves, and the amazingly detailed pipe, I just felt called to an era that reeked of sexiness, and yet has passed us by. This is that gentle, feminine beauty that I was speaking about the other day. Curves were celebrated, sleek style was all the rage, women's bodies were celebrated with garments meant to enhance, rather than hide their shape... gods, but the style is beautiful. I knew exactly what type of dress I would wear with these amazing accessories, and I found it at Mohna Lisa Couture.

I've never shopped at MLC before- I had no idea what was in store for me there... all I have to say is that it's a good thing I was on a mission for something specific, or I'd have bought half the store.

Portraiture and a Pet Peeve

Pet peeve first: downturned lips.

I don't know what happened, I don't know WHEN it happened, but suddenly on fashion blogs, I started seeing all of these new skins and pictures with models who have downturned lips. It's like angry is the new beautiful. Except, wait, it's not. Art is imitating life here, folks- fashion models have done the angry thing for years, and I always thought it was the absolute STUPIDEST thing on the planet. "I'm wearing THOUSANDS of dollars of designer clothes and makeup and you'll NEVER own it, so I'm PISSED!"

Mmmhmm. Even Ellen makes fun of this angry-model phenomenon in her cover-girl makeup ads. "Maybe it's because they pay so much for department store makeup?!"

Whatever it is, it's not my thing. To each their own, of course, but I tend to think that if you have to put on an angry face in order to illustrate edginess, you're somehow failing. My opinion only. Whatever happened to classic beauty? Whatever happened to GENTLENESS in fashion? What happened to femininity? Maybe I'm old-fashioned, or maybe I'm behind the times... but I could never put a downward tilt to my avvie's lips. It wouldn't make me think she's beautiful. It would make me feel like she's putting off a persona that isn't me... which is something I try to avoid.

So, I've shot myself in the foot- perhaps the angry look really IS what's behind the avatar. Perhaps the maker of the angry look really DOES think it's beautiful. In which case, who the hell am I to rant about it? Absolutely no one. So, as I said, personal pet-peeve.

I figured that instead of just ranting, I'd add a couple pictures of that gentle, feminine beauty I was talking about. Sort of a 'put up or shut up' dare to myself. Without further ado:

You can always tell just how much I love an outfit by how many photos I include with the post.

I *love* this outfit.

Dress. Sexy. Antiquey. Beautiful movement. Sheer where it needs to be. Not sheer where it doesn't.

Now... I have a deep, deep hatred for prim nails. Deep. I have always thought they were ugly as sin. I have always thought that they were ill formed, never fit right, moved badly, etc etc etc.

Until I saw these.

 These nails come in a few different forms, and the package includes sizes for 10, 20 and 30 size hands for women. The rings and nails come together- versions with just nails, with just rings, with different combinations of rings. Sexy. As. F*ck.
