Blueberry Kisses

This outfit's a tiny bit of a compliation... and everything about the fabric of the skirt and the background texture made me think of blueberries.

G Field is an awesome store for those of us who embrace Dollie, Edgy, or otherwise Cute clothes. Poof skirts, vintage coat dresses, shoes, stockings, and on and on and on.

I fell in love with G Field ages ago, when I found something of theirs in a hunt. Don't remember what it was that I found, but I then went back and bought half of the store. They make pretty, flouncy, completely wearable dresses, skirts, tops, dresses... their shoes are unique, colourful, and well-matched to the rest of the clothes in the store. You can mix and match and piece together a million different looks from just one store.

Go look.
Enjoy!

Cherry in the Snow

For your listening pleasure: Ella Fitzgerald - Let it Snow!

This is the version of the song that was running through my head during the preparation, and taking of, these photos.

I present to you one of my FAVOURITE designers in SL - Star Fairymeadow. She's the creator of everything Wretched Dollies.

I've been in SL just over a year and a half now... and I discovered Star and Wretched Dollies very early on. There's something sweet, sexy, and ingenious about Star's designs... she just captures a certain mood, with everything she creates.

This particular outfit, Cherry in the Snow, was release last year (I think), and is on sale right now for half price, at the Wretched Hollow (Star's sim). I will include a link in the credits.

I present to you- Cherry in the Snow:

Lo, 'tis a gala night...

Most of the rest of Poe's poem doesn't fit this gown.... but when I saw it, after I reaffixed my jaw to my face, all I could think of was 'gala'.

Word Origin & History

gala
1625, "festive dress or attire," from Fr. en gala,  from It. gala  (as in phrase vestido de gala  "robe of state"), perhaps from Arabic khil'a  "fine garment given as a presentation." Sense of "festive occasion" (characterized by display of finery) first recorded 1777.
(thanks, Dictionary.com)

This gown was made by Bee Dumpling, of "The White Armory".
It's called "Sixth Dimension".

Let me tell you a little bit about the White Armory, and their absolutely gorgeous clothes. I discovered them over a year ago, and instantly fell in love with the quality of the gowns that Bee creates. The difficulty, for me, was that while her gowns are amazing, they were largely centered around Medieval roleplay... anyone that knows me knows that I SUCK at roleplay... so while I lusted after the gowns (and acquired many), I didn't often have a place to wear them.

Until lately. Bee's branched out. She's begun to make gowns like Sixth Dimension- gorgeous, huge, flowy, with beautiful movement. Gowns that can be worn to gala occassions, not just within a castle's walls.

AND... Bee treats her fans amazingly well. Join the group and come back each week to receive one of her gowns, FREE... these are $900L dresses, folks... exquisitely detailed, sometimes up to 20 pieces for a single outfit... they're just stunning, and will always make you feel gorgeous. Bee's also introduced a 'group discount' board... one of her gowns for $50L. Amazing. You cannot beat her customer service, her care for her clients, and the stunning work she does on each and every piece she releases.

Now, without further ado, Sixth Dimension:

Gypsy Love

Peasant
I am only a rag girl,
only a street rat,
only invisible...
I am the shadow in the alley,
the unseen face,
the shunned, pariah...
This is all you see.

But I am more.

I am the wolf in sheep's clothing,
the seductress,
buy a flower, save my life,
take me in,
love my mystery,
learn my wildness,
make me yours,
your Gypsy Wife.

Winter has arrived in Jadeland.

It snowed today... and then gale force winds picked up, blasting the snow in all directions and cancelling busses.

A Day Late,

and a dollar short?

Dunno, really. I've had people visiting this weekend, so haven't been able to log much computer time. But, I DID manage to snap these pics on Friday morning, so I can share them with you now!

Fellini Couture released this particular number about a month ago (or so). It's called Satine, and is reminiscent of Burlesque.

I hope you enjoy!

Good afternoon, lovely people!

Today, I thought I'd introduce you to my better half- the "TwisteD" part of JadeD & TwisteD Photography. Damian is not only an amazing photographer, but he's also a builder (built our gorgeous home), and creator of custom collars (like mine).

So, without further ado:

White

I had meant to begin this blog with something upbeat, something fun.
My day hasn't turned out fun, thus far.
I am feeling... melancholy doesn't cover the angst of it...

so I share with you 'Agalloch'.
This piece always makes me feel meditative.
It slows my brain.
It lets me feel the hurt that is charring my edges.
And it's so beautiful that it makes me cry.

So today I have only a small offering... brightness, whiteness, glow,

my Mermaid self.

Bed of Roses

With an ironclad fist I wake up and french kiss the morning
While some marching band keeps it's own beat in my head
While we're talking
About all of the things that I long to believe
About love, the truth, what you mean to me and the truth is
Baby you're all that I need

I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails
I wanna be just as close as your Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses

Now as you close your eyes
Know I'll be thinking about you
While my mistress she calls me to stand in her spotlight again
Tonight I won't be alone
But you know that don't mean I'm not lonely
I've got nothing to prove for it's you that I'd die to defend

I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails
I wanna be just as close as your Holy Ghost is
And lay you down

I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails
I wanna be just as close as your Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses

Beautiful Blue

This entry comes with a soundtrack: Beautiful Blue - Holly McNarland

I confess,
I am a copycat.
I saw this dress on another blog,
and HAD to make it my own.

I think
I succeeded with that...
making it my own, I mean.
Theirs was ice-queen-like,
mine the 1920's
seductress.

Classic lines,
flowers in hair,
the black and white that
grips.

Tell me,
I don't know glamour
when it smacks me
in my blue-lipped face.

Tell me,
I don't know
Mystery,
when She approaches,
seduces,
draws me in...

Rozoregalia + Mohna Lisa Couture = Gorgeousness

This week, Rozoregalia released a new item- their gorgeous Bouhachi blindfold. It comes in a set of three different variations. One covering left eye, one covering right, and one covering both. I combined the left and right eyed covers to make a differently-shaped fourth option.

Anyway, as soon as I saw it, I knew that I needed to go back to Mohna Lisa Couture- my last pairing of these two designers was a smash hit, and I knew that this time would be no different.

I was right.

This dress is pure sex. The bared stripe of flesh, the gorgeous 'neckline', the shape of the skirt... it enhances the body without being overly daring, and yet, it's much more daring than your typical cocktail dress.

I must confess, I was inspired by the blindfold to do the 'gorgeous heroine, kidnapped and held' scene. I knew exactly where to go (A Dark Fairie's Dream - Jaded Wings) to find this particular scene... it being one of my favourite sims of all time (link follows). There's something desolate, yet utterly beautiful about the bowels of the castle, where I've staged my herione.

Yes, Jaded Wings provides a beautiful setting... allowing me to not only show off the rich textures of my gown, but also allowing my imagination to run wild with such poses as The Sword in the Stone. See our heroine facing her mortality... blindfolded, her strength not able to remove the sword, yet still trying for her freedom.

Thank you, Mohna Lisa Couture and Rozoregalia for giving me, once again, such amazing material to work with.

Enchanted

Evening, my furry friends!

Tonight's outfit was inspired by the movie "Enchanted" with Patrick Dempsey and the cute redheaded chick whose name I just can never remember. As soon as I finished watching that film, I set out on a quest to look like Giselle.

Instantly, I knew that Vita's Boudoir's "Potpourri" dress would have that flouncy, flowery, feminine feel that I was looking for. Paired with another gorgeous skin by LAQ, and another hair by Truth, the look is completed.

I apologize for the shortness of this particular blog- it's been a long week, and I'm just happy to get home, and strip down to my skivvies.... until the Canadian climate forces me to put sweats, wool socks, and a sweater on, with a toque and mittens.

Fricking climate.

Lest We Forget

In all Commonwealth countries, today is called Remembrance Day. It is a day to remember those who have fought and fallen, protecting the commonwealth and all of its nations. It is a day of paying respects.

In the month of November, Canadians wear poppies on their lapels. These poppies, which are purchased for whatever donation you can make, are a representation of our acknowledgement and respect for those who have fought, died, or are still fighting overseas, for us and our Country. The money earned from these poppies goes towards various Veterans Affairs and Canadian Legion programs.

Why the poppy? I'll show you: (click for a larger version)

To quote Wiki:
"In Flanders Fields" is one of the most notable poems written during World War I, created in the form of a French rondeau. It has been called "the most popular poem" produced during that period.[1] Canadian physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae is popularly believed to have written it on 3 May 1915 (see 1915 in poetry), after he witnessed the death of his friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, 22 years old, the day before. The poem was first published on 8 December of that year in the London-based magazine Punch.

Canadians wear the poppy, that flower that bloomed over the graves of those who died fighting for our Country, as a sign of respect.

It is only in recent years that I have begun to understand the magnitude of this day. I have begun to feel the sadness, and the angst, and the pride, gratitude, and power of this day. This day becomes so much more important as you realize the sacrifice made by those who have fought, and still do fight...

So... let us observe a moment of silence. Not just for Canadians who have fought- but for all who have, and continue to do so. Let us honour them, thank them, grieve them, and be proud of them.
